December is a magical time to experience the Baltic capitals, as twinkling lights illuminate historic streets, the scent of mulled wine drifts through the air, and Christmas markets fill the town squares with festive cheer. Unlike the bustling markets of Central Europe, those in Vilnius, Riga, and Tallinn offer a more intimate and unhurried experience. Strolling through these charming settings, you can take your time browsing artisan crafts, sampling local delicacies, and soaking in the spirit of the season. Admire the baroque beauty of Vilnius, explore Riga’s renowned Art Nouveau district, and step into a medieval fairytale in Tallinn’s Old Town, all while wrapped in the glow of the festive season.

This thoughtfully designed journey balances festive charm with refined comfort, featuring private guided tours, handpicked five-star boutique hotels, and seamless travel in a private car with a dedicated driver. From a visit to the enchanting Trakai Island Castle, set against a frozen lake, to discovering the historic Hill of Crosses and the picturesque Turaida Castle, this journey blends history, culture, and seasonal delights into an unforgettable winter escape.

This tour can also be done in reverse, starting in Tallinn and ending in Vilnius, with the option to extend your journey to Helsinki - just a scenic two-hour ferry ride from Tallinn. We can customise this tour to include stays in handpicked 4-star boutique hotels instead of 5-star accommodations.

Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Vilnius
A private transfer welcomes you to Lithuania’s charming capital, where you’ll settle into a carefully selected boutique hotel. Enjoy an evening stroll through the Old Town, where festive lights set the historic streets aglow.

Day 2: Christmas Magic in Vilnius
Discover the baroque beauty of Vilnius on a private walking tour, exploring its medieval streets and grand churches. Afterwards, immerse yourself in the city’s Christmas market, set in the heart of Cathedral Square. Sip hot chocolate or spiced cider as you browse artisan crafts and traditional Lithuanian holiday treats.

Day 3: Trakai – A Fairytale Winter Scene
A short drive takes you to Trakai, where the red-bricked Island Castle stands reflected in the frozen waters of Lake Galvė. Your private guide will share the rich history of this former Lithuanian capital before you return to Vilnius for a cosy evening.

Day 4: A Journey to Riga – Traditions & Timeless Elegance
Travel in comfort to Latvia’s capital, stopping at two cultural landmarks along the way. The Hill of Crosses offers a striking symbol of resilience and devotion, while Rundāle Palace, one of the finest baroque palaces in the Baltics, showcases grandeur at its best. Arrive in Riga in time to soak in the city’s festive atmosphere.

Day 5: Riga – Old Town & Christmas Cheer
Explore Riga’s medieval Old Town on a private walking tour, where historic squares come alive with holiday spirit. The city’s Christmas market is filled with the aroma of roasted almonds, gingerbread, and traditional Latvian winter specialities.

Day 6: Art Nouveau & Festive Elegance
Riga’s Art Nouveau district is a masterpiece of architecture, and your private guide will introduce you to its intricate facades and elegant streets. A visit to the Art Nouveau Museum offers a glimpse into the refined lifestyle of the early 20th century. The afternoon is free to visit one of Riga’s renowned cafés for a warming glass of black balsam, a warming winter drink.

Day 7: From Riga to Tallinn – Castles & Winter Landscapes
As you travel towards Estonia, stop in the charming town of Sigulda, where the medieval Turaida Castle overlooks the snow-dusted forests of Gauja National Park. Arrive in Tallinn, where the Old Town feels like a Christmas postcard.

Day 8: Tallinn – A Festive Fairytale
Tallinn’s Christmas market, set in the heart of the medieval Town Hall Square, is one of the most enchanting in Europe. Wander through the wooden stalls selling hand-knit woollens, spiced almonds, and handmade ornaments. Your private guide will lead you through the city’s winding streets, sharing stories of its Hanseatic past and festive traditions.

Day 9: A Day to Savour
Enjoy a leisurely day to take in the season at your own pace. Perhaps visit a boutique spa, browse cosy bookshops, or enjoy a festive meal in one of Tallinn’s historic restaurants.

Day 10: Departure in Comfort
A private transfer ensures a smooth journey to the airport, marking the end of your festive Baltic escape.

From Tallinn, you can effortlessly extend your journey to Helsinki, Finland’s capital, with a scenic two-hour ferry ride. Once there, immerse yourself in the festive atmosphere of the Senate Square Christmas Market, where seasonal delights, handcrafted gifts, and local treats await.
