Four Seasons in Finland
Finland is a year-round destination.

Lapland is the northern-most region of Finland and Europe’s last great wilderness. It's an active outdoor destination with vast arctic nature, and Santa Claus. The land of the indigenous Sámi people, known as Sámi homeland or Sápmi, also crosses the northern part of the region.

Lakeland, Europe's largest lake district, is where Finns come to recharge and reconnect with nature. The region offers things to do all year round, from cruises to fishing, cycling to hiking and ice swimming to skating. And where there's a lake, there's sure to be a cottage with a sauna.

The Helsinki region includes the capital city and its metropolitan area, as well as some further-flung towns and cities. Here, nature trails and city life are both never more than a stone’s throw away, and the area is overflowing with good food, great design, interesting museums and unique architecture.

From lively coastal cities to secluded lighthouses, historic manors and national parks, Finland's coast has it all. With more than 50,000 beautiful islands scattered across the sea, this is the world’s largest archipelago, and there are plenty of hidden gems to be discovered. Go sailing or island hopping on a bicycle.

Winter
November - March
Winter wonderland awaits you in Finland. From snow covered trees and glistening snow to displays of the Northern Lights - you will be mesmerised by the beauty of the wintery landscape. Warm yourself up with a mug of hot chocolate or a glass of mulled wine by an open fire after a day of fun outdoor activities - snowmobiling, dog sledding, skiing or meeting the reindeer - the choice is yours. Stay in a cosy log cabin or spend the night under the stars in a glass igloo. How about Christmas in Finland with your family? Enjoying local traditions, visits to Christmas Markets and meeting the Santa Claus? It's all here waiting for you.
Spring
April - May
Spring is a time of renewal and rejuvenation after a long winter. With days getting longer and warmer, it's the perfect time to explore the outdoors - the sound of birds chirping is a blissful reminder that nature is reawakening. Every spring, nearly 250 species of birds return to Finland from their long winter spent down south - a great time for birdwatchers! As temperatures rise, the islands of the world’s largest archipelago come to life, too. This is a great time to experience life on the islands without the crowds. Or enjoy the bustling city life with happy Finns who come alive after the long winter, too. Maybe join the locals and celebrate Vappu (1st of May) to mark the return of longer and warmer days.
June - August
Summer
Summer in Finland is an experience like no other! Enjoy the white nights with the midnight sun and take in the breathtaking natural beauty of the landscape dotted with lakes and vast forests. Explore the great outdoors with activities like hiking, cycling and boating and then relax in a traditional Finnish sauna. There are also plenty of cultural events and festivals to enjoy. How about island-hopping on bicycles in the world's largest archipelago? Perhaps renting a cottage by a lake or admiring the nightless night in Lapland? Options are endless, like our summer nights.
September - October
Autumn
Autumn is about celebrating the nature's bounty. Enjoy the vibrant autumn colours, from the deep oranges and reds of the trees to the golden hues of the fields and meadows. 'Ruska' is the Finnish word for this time of changing colours in nature. Take part in the harvest season, picking fresh berries and mushrooms from the forests on a guided tour. Admire the beauty of nature as it winds down, and relax in the peace and quiet of the countryside. September and October provide some of the best times of the year to go hiking and camping. Explore the city parks and stroll through market places filled with stalls selling fresh berries, mushrooms and vegetables.
