Embark on a captivating 10-day journey through the heart of the Baltic States, exploring the rich histories, vibrant cultures, and architectural marvels of Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia. This thoughtfully crafted itinerary offers a perfect balance of guided explorations and leisurely experiences, ensuring that every moment is filled with discovery and connection. From the charming streets of Vilnius and Riga to the medieval beauty of Tallinn, each city brings its own unique story and character.

While we know there’s so much more to discover in the Baltics, this tour is designed for those who are time poor but still want to get a real feel for these three incredible countries. That’s why we’ve focused on the capitals - each offering a unique snapshot of the nation’s culture, history, and charm.  You’ll travel between the cities comfortably on modern public buses with LuxExpress, making the journey smooth and enjoyable, with ample opportunity to relax and take in the changing landscapes. If you prefer not to travel by bus, we can include private transfers between the cities.

However, if you have more time or want a deeper dive into the local life, we can easily customise a longer tour that explores not only the capitals but also the charming regions of all three countries, or focus on one or two based on your specific interests.

This 10-day tour can also be tailored to match your personal passions. Whether you’re keen on exploring art, craft, food, or outdoor activities, we can design your itinerary to reflect your preferences. Of course, the best experiences may vary depending on the time of year you choose to travel. With private guided tours, leisure time to explore at your own pace, and a range of optional activities, you’ll experience the Baltic capitals in a way that’s meaningful to you.

A premium version of this tour, Charming Baltic Capitals in Style,  includes accommodation in 5 star properties and private transfers between the capitals (instead of the public bus).

This tour can be done also in reverse starting from Tallinn in Estonia.

Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Vilnius – Baroque streets and gentle welcomes
Your Baltic journey begins in Vilnius, a city shaped by history yet full of youthful energy. A private driver will greet you at the airport and take you to your hotel in the Old Town. Once settled, take a relaxed stroll through the nearby streets where lanterns glow in narrow alleyways and church towers rise above red rooftops. Vilnius invites wandering - stop for a coffee, listen to the echo of church bells and ease into Baltic life at your own pace.

Day 2: Vilnius – Stories of faith, freedom and identity
Meet your local guide this morning for a walking tour through the UNESCO-listed Old Town - one of the largest in Europe. Wander from the neoclassical Vilnius Cathedral to the Gothic masterpiece of St Anne’s Church, and hear how this city has long been a cultural crossroads. Pass through literary courtyards, independent bookshops and artisan studios that continue the city’s creative traditions. The afternoon is yours - enjoy a gallery visit, explore the bohemian quarter of Užupis, or simply savour Lithuanian pastries in a quiet café.

Day 3: Trakai – Island castle reflections and lakeside heritage
A short journey from Vilnius takes you to Trakai, once the medieval capital of Lithuania. Discover its 14th-century red-brick island castle, surrounded by the still waters of Lake Galvė. Beyond the views, Trakai is also home to the Karaim community - brought here from Crimea in the 14th century - whose wooden houses and food traditions remain part of daily life. Return to Vilnius in the afternoon with time to enjoy a relaxed dinner in the Old Town.

Day 4:  Vilnius to Riga – Across landscapes and borders
This morning your journey continues north to Riga, the capital of Latvia. Travel comfortably by Lux Express coach, a pleasant and easy way to see the Baltic countryside unfold—villages, farmland, pine forests and slow country rhythms. On arrival, a private driver will take you to your hotel in the heart of Riga. The evening is free to unwind - perhaps walk to the riverside at sunset or enjoy dinner in one of the city’s traditional Latvian taverns.

Day 5: Riga – A city of trade, tales and music
Explore Riga’s UNESCO-listed Old Town with your private guide this morning. Wander past medieval merchant houses, the House of the Black Heads, and the elegant spire of St Peter’s Church. Hear stories of the city’s Hanseatic past, wartime resilience and proud cultural revival. Riga has a relaxed soul - afternoons are well spent browsing craft studios or enjoying coffee and rye cake in a cosy café.

Day 6:  Riga – Art Nouveau beauty & local life
Today reveals a different side of Riga - its Art Nouveau district, one of Europe’s finest. Stroll along Albert and Elizabetes streets where elaborate façades bloom with sculpted faces, iron balconies and intricate detail. Visit the Art Nouveau Museum for an insight into the lifestyle of the early 20th century. The afternoon is free - visit the grand Central Market housed in former Zeppelin hangars, or wander through the creative quarter of Miera iela.

Day 7: Riga to Tallinn – Journey north to Estonia’s capital

Travel from Latvia to Estonia today as you journey comfortably by Lux Express coach through changing landscapes of forests, lakes and quiet rural towns. Crossing the border into Estonia, you’ll begin to notice subtle shifts in architecture and language - a reminder of the distinct identity of each Baltic nation. On arrival in Tallinn, a private driver will meet you at the bus station and transfer you to your hotel in the Old Town. The evening is free to wander the cobbled streets, enjoy a relaxed dinner and settle into the rhythm of Estonia’s charming capital.

Day 8:  Tallinn – Cobblestones, towers and sea breezes
Step back through centuries as your guide leads you through Tallinn’s medieval Old Town - one of Europe’s best preserved. Walk along ancient streets lined with guild houses, artisan workshops and views of stone towers from the city wall. Learn how merchants once ruled from Town Hall Square and take in views from Toompea Hill across the harbour and Gulf of Finland. Enjoy your afternoon at leisure—Tallinn’s cafés, galleries and small design shops make exploring easy and enjoyable.

Day 9: Tallinn – Nordic charm at your own pace
A free day to follow your interests. Visit Kadriorg Palace and its gardens, explore maritime history at the Seaplane Harbour, or head to Telliskivi Creative City - a former industrial area transformed into a hub of studios, street art and relaxed eateries. If you prefer nature, walk the seaside promenade to Pirita or enjoy Estonian flavours in one of Tallinn’s local bistros, where Nordic style meets Baltic produce.

Day 10: Departure from Tallinn – Until next time
Your journey through the Baltic capitals comes to a close today. After a final breakfast, your private driver will transfer you to Tallinn Airport for your onward flight. If you’re not quite ready to leave, you may like to continue across the sea - Helsinki is just a two-hour ferry ride away, offering easy connections to Scandinavia.
