Your wilderness guide will tell you about the nature, the seasons, flora and fauna as you enjoy the surroundings. A small snack is enjoyed at a beautiful spot during the hike. We also keep our focus on the skies as with a bit of luck we might see the northern lights dancing across the sky.

Day 6 Friday: Arctic Animals
After breakfast a transfer to a husky farm. On your arrival at the lakeside husky camp, you are greeted by the
enthusiastic barking of the huskies. The small-scale husky camp is in lovely forest terrain and after the careful
instructions on driving and safety you will take off into the landscape with your own husky team. The team carries two persons, one musher and one passenger and you can change places during the safari.

After the thrill and speed of the start, you soon start to relax and enjoy the surroundings and the co-operation with these lovely arctic runners. The tour of 10 km is a good introduction to husky mushing and this arctic mode of travelling. Once you return to the camp, you get to hear some information on huskies. You can also visit the huskies in the fenced area where they have their “homes”. There might be some cute puppies around!

Travelling in a husky sledge:
One adult stands on the skis of the sledge and drives the husky team, i.e. steers, breaks and assists in hills by kicking or running. One adult is seated as a passenger in the sledge. In addition to one adult passenger, sledges can take up to 3 small children, 1-2 older children / teenagers. Only adults can drive the husky sledges and during the stop the driver and adult passenger can change places.

After the husky safari it is time for some stories about the huskies and life of a musher. Gather in the cozy yurt for a tasty lunch while you learn more about huskies.

After lunch a short transfer takes you to a reindeer farm where we learn about the oldest livelihood in Lapland! Reindeer herding has long traditions and is a lifestyle as much as a livelihood, passed on from generation to generation.

Today you will have a chance to try your hand on reindeer sleigh riding. You are comfortably seated in the reindeer sledge and the reindeer takes you to the 1,5km long track through the snowy forest. The sledge seats 2 adults and 1-3 children.

You will also visit the reindeer enclosure where you can take photos and learn more about these beautiful animals. Have you heard the snap of their claws or the sound of them munching their special treat, lichen? Did you know that the appearance of reindeer changes all the time, because they shed their winter coats in spring, and lose and re-grow their antlers every year?

When the reindeer have had their treats, we will go on to the open fire at Kammi shelter where it is your turn to enjoy campfire coffee, sausages and home baked pastries. Here, the reindeer herders will  tell you stories about the ancient traditions in reindeer herding. Before leaving the farm, you get to visit the handicrafts shop at the historic 100-year-old farmhouse living room.

Tonight's dinner is a special wild food dinner consisting of local seasonal specialities. This dinner experience is for all senses. The crackling fire is not only decoration, the main course, glow fried rainbow trout, is being prepared there.

Day 7 Saturday: Finnish Sauna Experience
After breakfast some free time before your afternoon sauna experience. Saturday is traditionally the sauna day for the Finns. Sauna is an institution for the Finns - something very essential in life and a must-have. But why do the Finns love their sauna baths so much, is it not just sitting in a hot room?

Your sauna guide will tell you about the Finnish sauna and its health benefits and traditions. The sauna guide will show you how to make the perfect "löyly" happen, that is the steam in the sauna. There is also a special  body scrub made of Lappish wild herbs that you can use to enhance the experience. You can cool off by taking a dip in the ice-hole or even rolling in the snow!

This is a private experience for your party only, so you can choose if you wear bathing suits or not in the sauna. When you go for the ice-hole or the outdoor whirlpool, you might want to wear bathing suits, as there is a visibility from the area to the lake and terrace of the sauna. In case you decide to wear bathing suit, we kindly ask you to bring your own. There are towels and slippers at the sauna. A generous sauna snack and herbal tea are served in the sauna lounge, where you can relax and cool off after the sauna.
