Tour Itinerary
Day 1 Wednesday: Arrival
Upon arrival at Ivalo Airport transfer to your hotel located in the Sámi Village of Inari. Check-in and enjoy a welcome cocktail before retreating to your cosy room. Enjoy a delicious dinner at the hotel restaurant with lovely river views.
Day 2 Thursday: Learn about local life & Aurora Hunt
After breakfast, gear up in warm thermal outfits for a walk to the scenic Jäniskoski rapids. Along the way, you'll learn about the Juutua River’s significance to Sámi culture and hear fascinating insights about local life. At a cosy camp spot, we'll enjoy warm drinks and grill sausages while listening to the soothing sound of the running water.
In the afternoon, visit the newly refurbished SIIDA – Sámi Museum and Nature Centre. The permanent exhibition, Enâmeh láá mii párnááh – These Lands Are Our Children, opened in 2022. Here, you'll explore the rich history of the Sámi people and their role in modern Lapland. Wander through exhibits showcasing the eight seasons of Lapland and the wonders of Arctic nature. Don’t forget to visit the gift shop for handmade souvenirs.
After dinner, embark on your first 'Aurora Hunt'! We’ll ride snowmobiles to open spaces with the best chance of seeing the Northern Lights. If the sky cooperates, we’ll stop to admire the magical 'Dancing Lights', warming up by a campfire with hot drinks before returning to the hotel.
Day 3 Friday: Visit Sámi Cultural Centre & Parliament
After breakfast, walk to the Sámi Cultural Centre Sajos for a guided tour. Sajos serves as a hub for the Sámi people, supporting their language, culture, livelihood, and self-governance. It's also the home of the Sámi Parliament and various Sámi organisations.
Architecturally significant, the star-shaped building is inspired by Sámi handicrafts, with a floor plan resembling reindeer skin or a Sámi men’s headgear. Its use of native wood—spruce, birch, and fire-resistant pine—reflects Sámi culture, while wooden magnesite panels enhance acoustics and add texture.
After the tour, watch a short film, Sápmi - The Way of Being, depicting modern Sámi life. Sápmi, the Sámi homeland, spans parts of Finland, Sweden, Norway, and Russia.
After lunch at the hotel, you’ll be transferred to your next accommodation, nestled deep in the wilderness. Upon arrival, you'll find sparkling wine and local delicacies waiting for you in your room. Later, savour a delicious dinner at the hotel’s restaurant, surrounded by the serene beauty of nature.
Day 4 Saturday & day 5 Sunday: Winter activities
During your stay, you’ll enjoy a range of winter activities, starting with a Husky Safari where you share a sled with your partner. Take turns mushing your own dog team or relaxing in the sled as you glide through stunning winter landscapes, including the frozen Lake Inari. The dogs’ excitement is contagious, and once they fall silent on the trail, you’ll realize this is the most immersive way to experience Lapland.
You’ll also meet a local reindeer herder and his reindeer. In their enclosure, our guide will share insights into Sámi culture and the life of reindeer. You’ll have the chance to take photos, feed these curious animals, and even have them eat right from your hand.
For a more adventurous experience, snowmobiling takes you deep into the wilderness, through forests and across frozen lakes. Midway through the tour, we’ll stop for a camp lunch by an open fire, enjoying warm drinks to stay cosy.
Your package also includes a private Aurora Sledge tour, where you and your partner can relax in a heated sledge with an open roof, designed to let you enjoy the Northern Lights in comfort while seeking the best viewing spots on Lake Inari.
One night will be spent in an Aurora Cabin, where you can lie warm in bed under a sky full of stars, waiting for the magical Northern Lights to make an unforgettable appearance - truly a romantic experience.
Day 6 Monday: Departure
After breakfast you’re transferred to Ivalo Airport. It’s time to say goodbye to Lapland and head towards new adventures. Let us know if you would like to extend your stay in Lapland, eg. including a visit to Rovaniemi, the home town of Santa Claus.

If you suffer from any illnesses or disabilities (for instance heart disease, asthma, diabetes, epilepsy, back or hip problems) they can affect your ability to take part in these activities.

The speed of the dog team might be a surprise and mushing (driving) the team requires concentration. Driving a dog team is not suitable for persons with missing limbs, suffering back, hip, knee, or any leg problems. You have to be 18 years old to mush a dog team.

-
Activities, especially snowshoeing, skiing, snowmobile, husky and reindeer excursions can be physically demanding and participants may be exposed to different kinds of physical strain, vibration or carbon monoxide (in case of snowmobiling). Therefore, in order to avoid any complications and to guarantee the safety of all participants, we do not recommend husky, reindeer and snowmobile programmes to pregnant women.

Daylight
Check daylight hours for this region via this link.
Polar Night, or Kaamos in Finnish, is the period in the polar regions when the sun stays below the horizon, but this doesn’t mean it’s completely dark all day. While the sun never fully rises, there are a few hours of soft, atmospheric light around noon, and the snow-covered landscape reflects this light, making it feel much brighter than expected.
During Polar Night, the sky comes alive with stunning colors, as sunlight interacts with the upper atmosphere to create hues reminiscent of a sunset. The midday brings unique blue tones, offering a truly magical and photogenic experience.

Northern Lights
The Northern Lights are a mesmerising yet unpredictable natural phenomenon. While evening tours are designed to give you the best chance to witness the Aurora, we cannot guarantee its appearance. However, the nighttime experience itself is unforgettable, and if the Aurora graces the sky, it will make the moment even more magical.
Researchers have discovered that auroral activity follows an 11-year cycle, with peaks during what's known as the Solar Maximum. The next peak is expected around 2025-26, and the lead-up to this period offers an excellent opportunity for Aurora sightings. This year has already seen some spectacular displays, both in the North and even in the Southern Hemisphere (Aurora Australis).
