Experience the Sound of Silence

Slow travel paddling tour - 7 days/6 nights

Experience the Sound of Silence

Join our guided canoeing/kayaking tour discovering some of the beautiful waterways of North Karelia. We paddle 100 km in five days along the Koitajoki River and surrounding wilderness lakes enjoying the tranquility, pure air and endless summer days. Learn about local culture and history, visit national parks and protected mires and wetland areas, havens for migratory birds. During the tour we camp at small quiet campsites with huts or lean-tos for shelter, fireplaces and outdoor toilets.

This immersive tour is operated by a small Karelian family business run by two sisters and their brother. Like so many others in these remote areas, these sisters had to leave their home to study and work. But as the years passed, the call of their home region grew stronger and now they both have returned to their roots. Being able to share the beauty and tranquility of this remote region with their guests gives them great joy.

Come along and celebrate the simple things in life away from the crowds! This is a perfect adventure for nature lovers who enjoy outdoor activities, camping and have some prior kayaking or canoeing experience. This is a small group tour for maximum of 8 guests with set departure dates.
